Snow Storm
ThunderstrikeEarlier this Morning.
Kirsten parked her truck near the boarding stables at the newly renovated The Wire track. She looked at her daughter in the passenger side and let out a breath. "Well, we made it. Emma nodded and unbuckled her seat belt. "I'm going to go check on Snowy!" She was out of the truck in a flash. Kirsten smiled and jumped out after her.
In their six horse trailer she had brought Snow Storm, Thunderstrike, Knight Rousseau, Heartless Revenge and Mystical Melody. The empty stall was packed tight with individual tack and equipment. They had a lot of unpacking to do the next few days.
Originally Kirsten had planned on keeping her stock at home for the season but after all the drama that happened over at the GHF track ARS has made the decision to race solely at the newly renovated The Wire track. The competition was a big smaller and the atmosphere was better. Also, it was a way that ARS would be able to start their climb to the top again. They would still be bringing some stock to the GHF track to run in some major races but mostly they would run on TW.
This being said, TW was two and a half hours from the farm, which meant it would be a lot of back and forth so the decision has been changed to bringing the stock out for the meet.
By the time Kirsten got to the back of the trailer Emma already had Snowy on a lead shank and on his way out of the trailer. The nearly white stallion bobbed his head anxious to get out of the stuffy metal box. And now the unloading begins.Later this afternoon.
Kirsten leaned forward over the rail to watch the horses on the track. Emma watched next to her intently. That girl never missed one workout or race or anything that involved Snow Storm. They really had a strong bond. That was one of the reasons Kirsten was unable to sell the stallion. Now if only he would win something!
Melanie clucked her big dark bay stallion into a gallop. She was aboard Thunderstrike. The tall horse by Mr Light was feeling good beneath her. He really was a good turfer, he just had some tough breaks lately. He was placing in the money in all his recent starts, just never getting the win he deserved. "It will come boy." Striker quivered under her touch. He was still a young colt at heart and loved getting the attention.
Melanie chuckled and looked over at the newest jockey to ride for ARS. Chantal LeBlanc was hunched over her mount trying to speak to the younger white horse out of Blanchette. Melanie eyed her. Chantal had a similar style to Kirsten while riding. Hopefully that would start bringing in some winners for ARS.
They were both scheduled to race this weekend on the turf. Whether they would be able to pull off any wins yet is to be questioned. Kirsten bit her lip and waved for the two jockeys to start their works. It was time for ARS to get back into the game.
